Walking Barefoot and Why You Should!
For the longest time walking barefoot wasn't much of a choice as it was a necessity. For millions of years our human ancestors simply had to make due with their own feet.
Since then, companies like Nike, Adidas and Reebok to name a few have worked tirelessly to replicate the human foot. Although they have come close to marveling pedi-dexterity genius, nothing compares to what has been created through millennia upon millennia of evolutionary workings.
Chinese reflexology medicine is surrounded on the foot. There are many nerve endings that correspond to different organs in the body. By walking barefoot you stimulate and massage these organs. Alternative medicine states that liver and digestive functions improve with walking barefoot.
Circadian Rhythm is referred to the sleep patterns that are responsible for us feeling awake and drowsy. With regular sleep patterns we can have sustained energy throughout the day. Although regular sleep would be nice, it's not always the case. Many people have demanding schedules and sleep often gets pushed to the back burner. According to the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, people who walked barefoot had a better night's sleep to those that didn't.
Going outside in general can help regulate emotions and balance the nervous system, but letting your body come in contact with the soil directly decreases anxiety and stress even more. Since the Earth carries a negative charge with it, and we have a positive charge due to all the electromagnetic waves we come in contact with daily, spending time connecting with Earth is vital to your emotional and physical health.
Natural Energy Boost
The term Earthing has become synonymous with walking barefoot and for good reason. Immersing ourself in the natural world emits frequencies that helps our energy levels increase. Caffeine and other stimulants carry a temporary quick fix in keeping us functioning, but true long-term and sustained vitality comes from nature.
Reduce Pain and Inflammation
In a study from the Journal of alternative and complimentary medicine - 12 people slept on a mattress that mimicked the effects of sleeping on the earth. They did this for 8 weeks. Initially the participants complained about pain, stress and trouble sleeping but after doing blood work, before and after the study noticed that the subjects had lower cortisol levels. The participants also said that their pain, stress and trouble sleeping reduced or disappeared entirely.
