2018 Wisdom from Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivkekananda is credited for bringing Eastern wisdom and spirituality to the West. He's best known in the United States when he spoke at the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago, IL in 1893.
He was wise beyond his years. Below are some great quotes from him. We hope they help in making your 2018 a particularly special year.
"You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul"
Make 2018 the year where you hold yourself accountable. Make this the year where you take full control and responsibility of all your actions. With consistency you'll come to find that you are the deciding factor in which way you choose to move your life.
"We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far"
Instead of reaching for the morning paper or turning on your electronic devices to the news, take time for yourself and think about how you want your day to be. Ask yourself how you will best affect change and be a positive beacon of light to yourself and others. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
"Arise, aware and stop not until the goal is reached"
Without commitment, you'll never start and without consistently, you'll never finish. Make 2018 the year where you will keep striving for new heights. Get in better shape, improve your finances and make it a point to treat others better. Everyday is an oppurtunity to be a better version of you.
"Where can we go to find God if we cannot see Him in our own hearts and in every living being"
Whether or not you believe in God is not the ultimate takeaway from this quote. Instead of trying to find kindness in the world, make it a point to become a vessel of kindness. We can only attain what we want by becoming it.
"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone."
Spend this year on a few goals instead of many. Take a few ideas and make them a part of your life until you execute and perfect them. There is nothing wrong with having a multitude of interests, but if you want to make true and lasting change for yourself and others, then do a few things extraordinarily.
