Vegan Raita In 60 Seconds
Raita is a traditional tangy cucumber yogurt sauce that has a cooling effect, making it ideal to serve with all types of spicy dishes. In India, raita is often eaten with naan or other breads but it can also be eaten with curries, kebab, rice, vegetables dishes and even on sandwiches.
We’re excited to share a recipe with you here that our food blogging friend Anand Swamy aka ‘The Vegan Swamy” has created which is a vegan version of Raita sauce. Instead of using regular dairy-based sour cream, this recipe uses Tofutti brand sour cream which is completely dairy-free.
To make this delicious recipe, you will need to have the following ingredients on hand:
- Tofutti brand sour cream
- Carrot
- Cucumber
- Red onion
- Fresh cilantro
- Fresh mint leaves
- Cumin powder
- Salt & pepper
- Lemon juice
All the ingredients used in this recipe can be found at your nearest Bharat Bazar South Asian grocery store at any of our three locations in Fremont, Sunnyvale and Union City.
